NS enables its people to control their own careers. In 2020, 394 colleagues completed a career orientation programme (2019: 605).
During much of the year, consultations with the employee participation bodies were dominated by the COVID-19 measures. The consultations continued in an adapted format.
The biennial employee engagement survey was held at the end of 2020. The response rate of 68% was the highest ever for this survey, following a steady increase since he survey was first held.
NS is shifting its management focus from reducing absenteeism to increasing employees’ labour potential. Measurements will give us a better understanding of the mental and physical health of our people.
The COVID-19 crisis has forced us to reduce costs, to scale down and become more agile as an organisation. NS has already taken steps in this direction.
